They should be fine on the window sill. They will slow down but survive and may even benefit from a mild dormancy. Southern Australia and South Africa have winter as well.
I'd put the VFTs in the fridge. Winters have been too cold lately for them to survive outside without being planted in the ground and mulched heavily. I know a few of us lost lots of sarrs and other temperate plants grown in large pots when they were stored in the garage last winter.
Good point hal. We can all remember all too vividly how cold last winter was here in Ontario. (I laid on the beach all day today because I know how little summer we have left). I was planning on keeping my VFT in the garage for the winter-now, the fridge. Thanks!
