I will be trying to use the rainwater since it has been raining a lot in Ontario. It seems that a lot of prefer the rainwater more than distilled water.
I am opposite I collect rainwater for those times I cannot get any distilled water for whatever reason.out of money, stores sellout. I cannot get to a store or whatever the reason I collect it in the plastic barrels dog treats are in so I can cap it and store it I put the barrel in a open spot during rain and out of the wind so it don't blow over, usually a few big rocks to hold in in place(the rocks don't go in the barrel though)
I use rainwater, collected in a large barrel at the downspout from my old roof. I would let it rain a good hour before I collected any off a new roof though, just so there would be no chemicals or resins or such in any concentration. My orchids and sphag insist on it now. Melted snow in winter is dirty but works fine.
I've only used 2 gallons of distilled water in the 4 years I've been keeping carnivores. It's always been rain water. I move most of the plants outside every time it rains as well. Nothing beats what nature provides.
