hello everyone, I'm new to this site and new to growing VFTs. I recently purchased some seeds off eBay and did some research on how to grow them. A few seeds have already started and I was wondering if anyone could confirm that they are VFT? Here is a pic! Thanks.

It's hard to tell as for now.. Wait for a little bit and you will see the true leaf growing soon, then you will know if you have gotten real VFT seeds or just some weed seeds... hebtwo has a nice post on his VFT seedlings, you can check it out here: LINK

That doesn't look at all like a VFT. VFT seeds are very distinctive, like 1-2 mm jet-black, shiny teardrops.

Yea, sorry to let you know that it's unlikely to be VTF... I've gotten many weed seeds before from Ebay If you are interested I can give you some fresh Drosera Capensis Alba seeds, currently harvesting and giving away if you send me a SASE. Cheers, Willy

The seeds looked the same as the ones on the Internet. I will contact the seller. I figured they where different because of how fast they grew. Willyckh I'm interested in growing these and to be honest I'll still grow what ever I got from eBay just for fun. Sorry I don't know what a sase is?

SASE: Self-addressed stamped envelope Yes, I like to grow these mysterious seedlings too. I've gotten some clover, some pepper looking plants before. (Don't eat any unknown plant as it could be poisonous)

Great thanks for the advice! I'll pm you to get your details! I just emailed the seller with the pictures I posted here. Let's see what they say. They did have a lot of positive feed back so maybe it was an honest mistake.

If you're looking for eBay seeds, I'd definitely recommend: mazing-carnivores. Located in Alberta (if I remember correctly) They aren't the cheapest seeds, but the shipping was quick and his seed count was at least 10% over what was listed and I've had very good germination rate with the 50 I bought (also, all have been actual flytrap seeds).

Thanks guys! I'm a little disappointed but at the same time it was still fun getting these mystery seeds to grow.

Mazing carnivores is listed under suspect traders here. Wow, you're right. I didn't even know about that thread. I must have been lucky because I got a decent germination rate from his seeds. His auctions do definitely aim to manipulate newbies though. Thanks for pointing that out!
