...mine didn't look too bad but they did spend way more time than I would've liked, cooking in the post box. Even though I cut out of work early, when I got home and opened the box, the plants were hot. This recent heat wave was completely unnecessary. I hope everyone's plants survive and thanks again to Devon for putting it all together.

...I got a couple of Heliamphora and one Nep, they looked ok on arrival but the whole package was HOT. When I opened the plastic baggies, even the paper towels were hot to the touch, not a good thing.

Mine were in great shape. Well packed and healthy. However I made sure I was home and I unpacked them, drenched them in Superthrive and potted them up immediately.
If your boxes were hot when you opened them were they sitting outside? Any packages delivered to our house are just left at the door. If they were on the doorstep for hours in the heat, the plants would have been in worse shape.
If your plants were in poor shape, I don't think it was the trip from Europe or the repackaging by Devon.

I've lost plants in the winter and early spring from cold but I never thought of losing them from heat. The delivery trucks must be super hot in the back. I once killed a bay tree when my car was parked in the sun.

...they were in one of those metal community mailboxes. The mailman puts any larger package there when there is no one home. I will not blame BCP or Devon for the heatwave. The plants will be fine.

My plants from BCP weren't in one of those mailed boxes, handed to me directly. Devon is certainly Not to blame, he did an awesome job but it isn't just the heat. I got a Wistuba order this week as well. It actually crossed the boarder one day before this order did, came in the same Canada post trucks and the plants, as usual came in practically perfect. Most people have seen how Andreas packs his plants, always methodically done, wrapped in sphag moss, then rolled in papertowel then, labeled and stapled to the inside of a bag. My Nepenthes from BCP were just folded in slightly dam Papertowel and put in a ziplock type bag and packed in the order. No sphagnum even, can't be sure the plants really had contract with the paper towel the whole trip as it only would have be touching the outside edges of the plants. . Yes he generously sent extra plants, in case some die, now there is just 10 dead rienwardtiana instead of one or two.

BCP 2015

I did join the group order last year but not this year (bcp didn't have the plants I was hoping for this year) but hearing the commotion I'd like to chime in and say the heat wave is certainly a huge factor. I had all my helis and neps come in at perfect condition with no mortalities last year and for one, I know Devon packs his plants very well. BCP is also very nice so I'm sure that if you guys let them know about your losses, they can hopefully compensate for some in a future order or however else. Sorry for your losses brad and paul!

Yeah I understand, I don't doubt the BCP will compensate and as Stated above I don't blame Devon, his pack job was good. Just a bummer, Thats all. Plants weren't that expensive anyways, most were really cheap, and im sure some will live.

I'm very sorry to hear, and see, that there were issues with some of our orders from BCP.
I have to say I was overjoyed with the quality and condition of the plants I received (predominantly Pings) and I can't thank Devon enough for the hard work and time he put into this order.
Thanks again Devon.
