Many people have asked me this question so I guess I will share here. I look forward to see what others are using to take photos too! My camera is a mirror-less camera, Sony Nex-5R. I usually use Carl Zeiss 55mm Prime Lens, along with Macro Extension Tubes. Tripod is a must when it comes to taking macro shots, since the light receiving level and depth of field are much lower when Macro Extension Tubes are mounted. I really enjoy taking photos because I can see much more details than my eyes can ever could see.

Can't go wrong with a Zeiss lens. Does that camera have a digital display on the back in lieu of a viewfinder? Very impressive quality for a small body.

In lieu of a viewfinder, the Nex-5R offers a adjustable LCD touch screen at the back. The touch screen function is well known to be very laggy and unresponsive. Some people dislike having no viewfinder since it's hard to see in bright places, but I think it does alright in bright outdoors scenes, and I really like the flexibility of the screen.

haha, i see you have a few more extension tubes than me i'd been quite happy with my fuji X10 until i saw your shots. then i borrowed DH's Fuji X-E1 with macro extension tubes. They're both really nice cameras, i just need to take the time to set up a tripod etc (impatient little me ) So your ring light is continuous? hmmm. the possibilities i do have a light tent and strobes - but expect the lens would cast too much shadow - i'll have to play with my setup a bit I'm still itching to order a USB microscope though. if canada post weren't going on strike, i would've already. now it'll have to wait for the next batch of seeds...

Usually I'm using just 16mm+10mm+55mm lens. The light is press-on which means I can have it on as long as I want I don't use tripod, the light (grow lights + ring light) is bright enough for me to have ~f5-f10 without having a tripod. I'd be interested if the usb microscope is good, keep us posted!
