a very interesting experiment you have done, must say very game of you to do it , but yes it is a natural occurrence and man done as well , in the wild locations of ceph habitats , I actually going to be in Albany in 1st week of Nov this year to see what the summer firers have done to the ceph and drosera population is several areas for a study on the population growth , its usually a very exciting time as you get to see many ares that are usually over grown and hide the plants that we so seek , I am not surprised that your burning was successful , you can try next time to use leaf and dry grass as fuel as its the natural stuff as its native shrubs in the wild habits, I personally have never been game to do this , so congrats to you J Post some pictures.

...Hi Snapperhead, thanks for your note. Have fun in Australia! The fuel for my fire were various dried up weeds that I collected from a nearby field. The first Ceph that came back to life is developing two pitchers. Sorry Lloyd, no pics, phone is just under a year old, so time for a new one!

ok so you had it all in hand , great ,still very impress with your game-ness to do a burn off , the fires in Ceph land Western AU were very extensive this summer ,and went through many of our known ceph sites , this will be great to find new sites in the areas burnt out , the regrowth in ozzie bush land is just astounding after fire, so we need to be there in early spring to see what we need to see . is Noland still around here ??
Lloyd , I have many many photos of wild location cephs here all ready from proir trips. if that was directed to me last in your post ?

Just a grower...
Snappy is in fact the greatest heliamphoras, nepenthes(+Paul Barden) and cephalotus expert i know. He gave me so much great tips and advices for my helis. And im glad to say he is also a good friend.
I think we are very lucky to Have a CPs Jedi like him on OCPS.
John: I hope you liked the little nepenthes package we sent you a couple weeks ago, for your father. Hope they grow nicely.
Cheers
Francois

...finally, after just over 4 months, the last burned Ceph comes back!!! The 2 Hummers that I burned were dead already so they're not coming back. That makes my success rate a respectable 100%. Good experiment. 010 Jun 06 by Gabriel Pona, on Flickr Cheers!

...here is an update. That last one that came to life did not make it. Here are the other three...(pics taken Sep. 20) ...I will be repotting these, I don't like the media I used when I did the burn. Not as vigorous as I'd hoped after a fire but at least they're alive. Thanks for looking.

...I thought I'd update this thread as I was bringing all of my dormant, I think, Cephs outside into the greenhouse. Only 3 left... ...will update my Exposed Ceph thread now, thanks for looking. AV.
