G'day. My aldro experiment seems to be coming along - the plant has not died on me and seems to be multiplying in it's little 1g container. The 2g bowl is ready so I'm transferring some material over this weekend. I was inspecting my Sarrs and noticed critters swimming around in the tray. These things are like tadpoles but they're some type of incest larvae (no amphibians on my 2nd floor balcony).
I'll try to get a picture of them, the biggest seem to be around 5mm overall length. Anyone have any idea what these may be pr done anything similar? I'll put a lid on the bowl in case they mature and want to fly around.

You could look for a mosquito larva picture on the net to see if they look the same.

They look very similar, I'm quite certain they are now. I'm thinking these will be too big for my aldro., they can get up to 2x the size of the critters in there now. I also recall a caution against growing mosquitoes indoors on another thread. Scratch that idea, I'll leave them there and feed them to the sarrs. I ordered a microworm culture for my plant, hopefully it arrives tonight :-) And now's a good time to find a daphnia culture kit!
