Did someone say Canada Blooms? Good to see everybody still around. I have that sunday free so we may make it a family outing.

I'm busy the whole weekend so my family and I went today. It's very pretty and all the flowers smelled nice. There were around 4 places with CP's. There were some big Nep. "alata" & "miranda". I actually thought they were too big as we came by subway so I wasn't going to buy any. Unbeknownst to me my wife bought an "alata" for me. It barely fit into my knapsack. It's hanging just above my Nep. terrarium for now so I'll see how it does with our winter low humidity. It was $30. The "miranda"'s had huge red pitchers that looked too phallic looking for my taste and were too big to carry home anyway. There were also a few S. "dana's delight" & "judith hindle" next door and of course Vraev's favourite, dentate VFT's. The CP's were really just a very minor note there. There was an interesting ant plant for display that had neat little bladders where the ants live. Also a few not too interesting succulents. Tons of orchids that of course looked great but you can buy most of them at Loblaws these days. There were lots of lectures and presentations but I had my eight year old so we just wandered around. Some interesting sprinkler systems and nice miniature greenhouses that looked expensive. So go for the general ambience and not the CP's. If you're hungry the Lone Star Restaurant is just outside the North Convention building and is a good spot for good, filling Tex-Mex food (lots of meat). Just remember to order one serving for 2 people. I'm now tired and stuffed (I took half the steak home) at home. By the way, we put our coats and boots into lockers which made it much more comfortable & there's also a coat check.

Thanks for the headsup Lloyd- I can't even afford a birthday cake so it looks like I'm officially OUT of this one, but it doesn't sound like I'm missing too much, congrats on your newest Nep

I just took stock of my "alata". It's big, some of the pitchers are over 6" long and the whole plant is about as big as my nep. terrarium under it. I'll try to post some pictures.

Well Just got settled from my weekend vaccation. Hit blooms on Saturday with steve and his girlfriend, amny things to see as usual. I tend to go more for the shopping, I noticed that the booths are getting more towards the "crafty" side of things. There weren't as many plant venders this year as previous years. And due to some miscommunication our plans didn't go quite as expected, but was still a good trip and I managed to navagate the 401 and yonge street all without problems! But I did accomplish some goals hehe Aswell as a set of amaryllis, a few calla lillies and some herbs I found some broms to finish off my tank: And collected a couple little guys to live in said tank! I'm finishing off referbishing their tank tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to move them in by the evening! Sib
