This is my mix 5:4:1:1... LFSM : perlite : peat & sand : bark & live top dressing, so what about a 8 inch round pot, the plants are 8-10 cm tall would that be too big of a pot ?

This is my mix 5:4:1:1... LFSM : perlite : peat & sand : bark & live top dressing, so what about a 8 inch round pot, the plants are 8-10 cm tall would that be too big of a pot ? Do this test with your media mix in your 8" pot first before potting your plants: 1) Carefully pour a few cups of water on top of the media surface, being extra mindful to not disrupt the media too much. 2) observe how long it takes for the water to percolate through to the bottom of your pot. 3) also observe how much water is collected in the tray that came out the bottom of your pot, this will tell you how much water the media is holding onto. 4)If you find the media is holding a lot of water, you can either add more perlite or you can go with a smaller pot that will dry out faster. The main point is too stay away from a dense organic mix that will become compacted when kept wet for extended periods of time. Try to aim for a light airy mix, that also is capable of retaining moisture, so that constant everyday watering isn't required. dvg

Yes, if it stays moist and has some light, there should be some spores in there that will reanimate into some fine moss for you. dvg
