They dont need a ton of ambient humidity imo. Theirs is very low during growing season when occurring naturally. Biggest thing with these guys would be keeping those roots cool from what i've seen. They aren't that tough to grow if that achievable.

Ng's got it. Temperatures are of the utmost importance don't worry about the humidity and don't skip the dormancy

If its always moist/saturated the lfs creates one.

you cannot really grow sphagnum moss well with low humidity.

That's not entirely accurate. If you keep it well saturated it grows just fine even if the ambient humidity is bupkus.

I have tons of lfs growing in my pots. Some in ambient humidity some in terrariums.
I have found that it grows well regardless of humidity as long as it's kept moist. It seems to do much better in my HL terrariums then my LL enclosure however it still grows none the less. Albeit slower in lower humidity on my racks. It needs to breathe and be moist at the same time. Loosely packed and watered lightly and frequently
It's a lot easier to creat the proper environment in a terrarium than on a rack.

Thought so ! Cause if at all only a little sprout in sparatic pots I see but it dosnt grow much more then that, that is why I asked, iv only ever seen it grow nice & lushes in terrariums. I would love to be able to grow a plant in just Live LFSM it looks so nice !! & that you & to all that has replied, weather or not it was a stupid question or not !! Thanks, I have a tone of LFSM (dried) now from URBAN BOG so If I take all of it, wet it, put it in a pot , take a plant put it in the pot it should be fine just mist it couple times a day, oh , dose anyone have instructions on how to use LFSM, I think it's worth a try on a purpurea,....if any one can tell me how they would go about prepping & instructions on using it for a plant I would forever be in your debt !!

LFS is really easy to grow. All you need is very high humidity and light. Throw your dried sphag into a large clear plastic bag... inflate the bag and moisten all the moss, place it in a bright location and forget about it for about half a year. If you want faster results, cut living sphag tips and place them in the large clear plastic bag. We're going to miss Urban Bog

Most people use perlite to loosen it up. The ambient humidity isn't the issue, the moss will thrive if kept moist at all times. If it dries out it turns black and will perish/promote moulds.
