I changed the design of the HL setup over the weekend. This should be a bit more functional. I like to keep my colder growing plants closer to the floor. I have done a lot of temperature checks and I always see 5*F differences between eye level and floor level so the ones I have that tolerate intermediate conditions always go up and the cold or (UHL) plants go down. It's still very rough at this point but finished it will look quite comparable to the larger previously built unit. I basically made a shelf on top of the enclosure so I can put a tank up there. Still have to figure out how to hang my light for the tank but that should be simple This will be the last enclosure for awhile. It should give me enough space for a couple more years lol. 28" deep 55" high 53" long Attachments:

Suuuure it will... A whip round to see how long before the tank is filled? $5 on one year.

I already have the plants to fill it. They just need to grow more
I do however have a large itch for the remaining heliamphora species I don't have along with 3-4 cephs I'm missing
In due time lol

Beautiful tanks Cory. Very nice antique finish to them. Although, I would be concerned about the wood rotting,...even though i am sure you probably used a waterproof primer. I also think its good that you built it with wood...the loss of light is minimal compared to an all glass or plexiglass tank. But its all about the "show". This is definitely like a piece of furniture in your room.

It's completely sealed to hold heat. Several coats of oil based paint was applied inside and 3 coats of stain on the outside. All joints were caulked and sealed. Someday it will rot lol. But by then I will have been long gone

Plant looked huge in their old setup but quite tiny in this giant thing. Some are just in here until I get the other tank setup. It's been a very busy weekend Attachments:

...fantastic!!!, my set ups are very rough around the edges. You have created a finished piece of furniture, I love your choice of stain and it's very well done. Good for you man, I hope your plants like their new home! Cheers, Gabriel.

Amazing tanks Cory. Looks fantastic in a living room setting. Be careful about lighting though...u might need some powerful lights to get all the color u want.

I agree about the lighting. 4 bulb T-5 HO in the LL. Plants are setting on pots to raise them up a bit. If it's to low I will raise them up more. Haven't decided exactly what I'm going to do with the HL setup yet for lighting. It will be a few weeks before I get everything sorted and up and running there so I'll deal with it then.

I don't remember what height you are using for your HL tank, but I used 4 x T5 + 2 x T8 for my 3' tall tanks. They were very very good. I got good compact and perfect growth/pitcher:leaf size. However, when I went up to a 8 tube T5, I started getting heat issues. So, I would suggest consider 6 T5 as your sweet spot. But be prepared for a good couple of fans to pull the heat away from the plants

I do have a 2 bulb as well I can use in addition if need be. Heat shouldn't be an issue I don't plan on leaving the top completely sealed I have tried that many times prior and it never works out. The heat needs a place to escape from at the top. I'll supplement the needed humidity with a large humidifier
