Great photos DVG! I love that you can see all the glands on the inflorescence. Any tips on getting good photos of these guys?

Hi dvg - You and your fasciated monsters! The Ping whisperer strikes again. I need to learn your incantation. Seriously, are you inducing them to do this purposefully? You seem to have so many with what I think of as an uncommon growth form in pings. Or am I doing it wrong? A distinct possibility.

Thanks guys, Hi dvg - You and your fasciated monsters! The Ping whisperer strikes again. I need to learn your incantation. Seriously, are you inducing them to do this purposefully? You seem to have so many with what I think of as an uncommon growth form in pings. Or am I doing it wrong? A distinct possibility. Hi Apoplast, those fasciated Mexi-pings do pop up from time to time and end up getting their pics posted here because they are interesting to look at. If you persist in growing these plants for a while, you should eventually have some in your collection as well...good luck! dvg

Hi DVG - It's true I don't have a ton of of them, and I've only been growing them for about 8 years. Good to know they'll pop up if I keep on keeping on - or something to that effect.

Hi Apoplast, you should be getting close now then...it was eight or nine years of growing them before I saw the first one show up in my collection. Just hang in there and you'll get one soon, hopefully. dvg

Thanks T01! Thought i'd do an update on the P. colimensis x agnata crosses. Here is how they looked together in a 4" pot back on Oct. 24, 2014. Since then they have all been transplanted into their own 3" pots. The two plants near the bottom of the screen are flowering, which is a first for any of these. A couple of these plants make flat, broad, pinkish colored leaves with slightly down-turned leaf margins and a hollow near the front of the leaf which allows for drool pools to break down and assimilate nutrients from trapped prey. Their dew laden leaves resemble a lapping tongue. The smallest plant is the dewiest of the batch, while the reddest leafed plant carries a lot of the father parent P. agnata: the red leaf coloring and the domed, scallop shaped leaves. Once these flowers have fully opened, i'll post some detailed pics of both of them. dvg

They are so perfect!! Lovely colour and shape, I'm very smitten! May I ask, how often do you water them? I'm still getting a feel for how much moisture they need. Your lava rock potting medium is very intriguing.

Thanks Carkin, these plants are top watered until their watering dishes below the pots are full.
Then once the water evaporates out of the dishes, i'll wait a few more days until they are watered again.
Right now that works out to about once a week.

Here are some pics of the first two flowers to open for this P. colimensis x agnata cross. This purple flower had begun to open in the previous photos. From the side, it has the longer spur of the colimensis mother. The other flower to open has a lot of the P. agnata father's influence in the flower shape, color and pattern. From the side, it too has a longer nectar spur than a typical P. agnata, the colimensis mother coming through again, here. Only a small sample size of four different clones for this cross, and already some noticeable variation. Will be interesting to see what variation the other two clones of this cross will offer up when they finally flower. dvg
