G'day. I found a source for coarse grade silica sand in Toronto, Canadian Pipe & Pump Supply. Their number is 416-244-6476. There are three grades in which we may be interested: #8 (0.094") #12 (0.066") #16 (0.047") The cost is reasonable, $10 for a 50lb bag. If you're interested in participating, add your name to the list below along with approximately how much sand you will want so we know to get 50lb or 100lb. We can divvy up the bulk bag into smaller poly bags. Pickup only. 1. Greg, 50lb FWIW, if is just me, I will still get 50lb and if anyone local needs some let me know. The number refers to the holes per inch in the seive. Higher number, smaller grains.

Damn you, the largest grade I can get right now is 20-30. It's mostly 20 but I'm not 100% satisfied with it. Just used 5 bags yesterday so 10 bucks a bag would be nice.

I could go out there this week but I only have a Mazda 3, I'm not sure how much I could put in it.

Looking like we'll be taking 150-200lb. Lloyd, I'll call them tomorrow to inquire about delivery. A 50lb bag will be about the size of a bag of fertilizer, at most there'd be 4 of them. If Ian wants us to bring back enough to convert his yard to a bog, that's an entirely different proposition ;-3) Justin, first round of calls I made to local autobody shops and building centers, I could only find 30-40 so i feel your pain mate! This supplier replied to me from north of Sarnia, directing me to their customer in Toronto. If you're willing to do some legwork: www.frasers.com/Punch "silica sand" into the search and out pops a list. From there it's just brute force looking for a source then checking their web site. I sent out 10 or more inquiries and had 3 responses by day's end today. You're in Peterborough yes? There should be somebody near you with some - but we should have plenty to spare so if you're planning a trip down let us know.

G'day Ray. I am still arranging delivery/pickup. Hoping to have everything available next weekend. If not, it'll be first weekend in April. Only Varun and I are possible interested in #12 so we will probably just get 50lb of that and the rest #8. As it stands now, we'll be getting 200lbs of #8 (4 bags) and possible 50lbs of #12.

It should be delivered later this week. I'll PM everyone with details and updates after I close it tomorrow.
Varun, I'm on the fence about getting #12. Are there any (growing) applications where the finer grade would be preferable? If not, you'll take 20lbs of #8?
