Hi DVG - I'm not out of the woods yet, I'll probably have to rinse the sots through again. But it's looking up. Believe it or not, the sand was the laboriously washed stuff. I'm pretty sure it was the water, but I am still waiting on the TDS meter from Amazon to get here to be sure. The big thing I've learned as a CP hobbyist - never go without a TDS meter! The new one I am getting does TDS, pH, salinity, electrical conductivity, and most importantly, it's waterproof. My last one died when water splashed up into it. Why do companies make water testing equipment that can short and die if they get wet? Ah the lessons we learn.
Hi Canuk - That, sir, is a great idea! I'll have to see if I can find such a deal here in the States.
