Can someone here do something about the spam bots, or do we need to talk to Proboards? This is the second time in a week that we've been swamped by them. Plus I don't have the money for a new kitchen, especially one from the UK.

YVW Hal.
Luc, I don't think it's a bot as the messages are posted from registered users. One way around this is to put users in a pending mode until their profile is approved by a mod - but this puts more work on the mods. If it's just someone that signs up then starts spamming not much we can do but monitor and delete the users and posts as when they appear. We (i.e. one of the mods...) could try sending them a polite "cease and desist" request? Subtly pointing out it'd be much better for them in the long run to peddle their wares to interested parties rather than start a flame war and risk being targeted by hackers?

They're baaaaack. I've deleted the posts. Thanks for the reports
The way to stop this, I think, would be to block their IP addresses. I have contacted Syble, the site administrator to ask her to look into it or pass on the site admin info to me so I can take care of it. I have also emailed Proboards.

I wish you luck Ian, I've been trying for over a year now. I don't blame Jackie at all though, I know she's been having family problems and just doesn't have the time anymore.
I'm in contact with Rug and he was going to meet up with her a little while ago but stuff came up, still working at it though. I'll PM you if I hear anything from them.
We need to give our forum a facelift once we get things sorted out

I agree, these people who post kitchens here should be screened and deleted unless it comes from a member.and a permanent bock to stop them in the future.

All spammers have their accounts disabled.
Spambots are discriminated against with extreme predjudice.

They're baaaaaaaaaack. Not just kitchens, either. Porn and malware, too. Thanks to everyone who's reported them and we'll try to keep on top of them.
I've emailed the Proboards administrators to see if they can block them, but haven't got a response.

About these spam messages on here for a new kitchen or whatever. proboards should make their own banner stating spammers and post not appropriate for any OCPS topic subject themselves to legal action they should also make a data base of the IP Adresses and state these walls are monitored daily and by logging on gives OCPS the right to record IP Adresses whoever agrees leave your name an maybe a moderator will get the list to proboards
