...peroxide (bleach form) ... (it does break down to pure oxygen BTW). Peroxide doesn't really exist except in a form you can use since it is an anion O 2-2, I'm guessing you mean hydrogen peroxide H 2O 2 Yes - I reckon you're organic chemistry is more recent than mine... ;-) I got a bit mixed up with ozone (O3). No need to strain mine, everything should have been washed off the roof after 6 hours of rain. Won't have to buy distilled water for at least a week I hope! Greg

Damn..This may be false, but who cares.. Apparently hydrogen peroxide can kill/prevent mold, oxygenate the soil and a bunch of beneficial stuff.. Definitely something I will want for the seeds I'll be sowing tommorow.. Then again, my source recommends using half of the quantity I did.. Probably not a big deal, considering I let it aerate..

It does work well for disinfecting stuff, I use Percept for cleaning tools and work areas. Its like Hydrogen Peroxide on steroids.

G'day Dante. It's a very good disinfectant and is non-toxic. If the concentration is too high it may burn - a strong solution will bleach my skin but it won't dissolve like chlorine bleach. I suspect it could probably be added straight to the media if is free of dissolved solids. Has anyone ever taken a TDS meter to a "typical" H2O2 solution and can share results? I'll be happy to post when I get mine - might pick one up at Bustan or the local hydro shop.

I can't see a need for H2O2 for CP's.

Agreed Lloyd, this is something for experimentation - if someone is so inclined? For mature/rooted plants I doubt it'll do much good. If the media is infested then probably best to replace it. For seedlings it may prevent mould and mildew - but it seems that adequate air circulation will be just as or more effective. It's an interesting thought exercise though. I think of H2O2 as a "wonder substance" along with acetic acid and colloidal silver. Excellent against all sorts of pathogens, good for lots of things and pretty much non-toxic.
