Mine sort of went dormant after flowering but it's coming back with fresh growth. Don't let the subulata grow flowers. Cut the buds off, they are cleistogamous and seeds will fly around even if the flowers never open. You will think you are Ok until a few months later when it will be in all your pots.

The much maligned U. subulata strikes again. They do make pretty yellow flowers - too bad they are so invasive. dvg

Bonjour Maiden - Nice plant! I really like Genlisea species, but I can't touch them. My temperatures don't stay warm enough to keep them happy. Oh well, maybe some day I'll have a spot for them. Until then keep sharing pictured of your plants so I can enjoy them from afar.

Great work. That is a very intriguing but slow-growing species. Like Ray, I'd like to play around with growing this and Utric in compots with other CPs (a project for next winter).

Great work. That is a very intriguing but slow-growing species. Like Ray, I'd like to play around with growing this and Utric in compots with other CPs (a project for next winter). your project will end in all your pots having the "plant" in it making you having to waste you time repotting EVERYTHING if you are doing a project keep it separate from your favourite plants. ---- The Genlisea aurea looks really great especially the slime... mmmmm slime uhgggggggg.

So it'll take over and overgrow the other plant? I was hoping to cheat and have this stuff eating fungus gnat larvae and other greebies. Curses, foiled again!

O no I meant that it would invade your pots and you would have to take time to get rid of it , no damage having it beat the gnat problem would be a good project try it out sorry for being misleading

Not misleading at all mate - just feelin' like bein' a illiterate today! A carpet of Gen. may look nice with a decent-sized CP for company. Might even be abble to create an indoor bog and not need to worry about bugsss!

Thx for your kind words guys. This genlisea is a semi-aquatic plant. Here the setup: Genlisea aurea setup So, it will be hard growing this plant with your other plants. Everything will rot. I keep the water level 1cm under the soil surface.
