Hi gang, Ok, does I have one or two problems here ? Here's a pick of my inside growing sarr. I think it has something like the one of Devon's but I just want to be sure. There's black spot on it that I can remove with paper toilet. Does this come from thrips ? If so, what should I do. The plant has been negleted of bit ... I think I didn't water it enough. My second problem can be seen on these photos. There's small pest on my pings that were seating closer to the sarr. Does, this is the same thing ? I can see small black pests (black dots needle head size) crawling at my water level mark between the pots. Should I eradicated them or could they be great food ? I think my big pings can handle these but the smaller one ?

I don't know which CP-safe methods there are to control them, but those look like flea beetles.

Ok, With the help of a fellow member, I've find out that what's on the pings are 2 spotted springtails. They don't seems to be lot of a threat. Here's a pic I took of the critter. You can see the 2 white dots on the back. Not very neat but it does the job : It must be something else on the sarr. Bonfield, should I be able to see them if there's flea bettle ? The spot on the plant don't move, it seems more like bug waste ... where should I look. The plant is now alone outside.

Now it almost looks like a tiny wasp to me! It should be visible if it is a flea beetle, but that was just a first guess based on the earlier pic. If the one bug doesn't seem to be inflicting any damage, I would just welcome it as part of the food chain, lol. As for the black spots on the sarr, I would check to make sure it isn't black scale insect.
