Hi all,
I'm planning my mini-bog and I have some drosera capensis and sarr seedlings that I wish to put in it.
I'm wondering what will happens when there will be a shower. Do I need to protect them with a small cover ?
Tks

Every undrained pot that I put out has filled with water, drowning the plants. Your bog will need some drainage. You can use a bulkhead fitting in the side of your container to run a drain tube. The fitting should be at the maximum level you want the water. Alternately, you can place a vertical piece of drain pipe in your minibog, and siphon the water out after heavy rain. If you want to get fancy: Send the water from your downspout to a raised rain barrel Make one auto waterer/drain assembly from small rubbermaid tub - water from rain barrel enters through a float valve - bulkhead fitting for drainage installed above float water level - feed/drain bulkhead fitting installed below the water line Use tees for one feed/drain line per bog Feed / drain enters bog via bulkhead fitting below water line. Note: all mini bogs that share a auto waterer / drain assembly need to have the same water level. Personally, I like the automatic system - just in case I forget or am not around when it hits

My pots will flood after a big storm. The plants don't seem to mind being underwater for a day or so if I'm lazy. When I get a chance, I siphon out the excess and save it for dry days.

If you're not being fancy: maybe a reservoir with tubing going into the siphon tubes with the height arranged to keep the water at the right level.
