Nice greenhouse and bog, Jay. You must be in the Niagara area like Carl and Carl with that wonderful climate over there.
This year hasn't been too great for my bog... I'm hoping that it's due to the fact that my trees have grown quickly and shaded the garden out for much of the day. If I can find a sunnier location, I'm going to build a new bog this spring.

Anybody who grows U. subulata must love utrics or can't get rid of it.

For a while, I was contemplating tossing everything in my bog garden and making it a pure U. subulata bog as the centerpiece of my collection... and then I woke up from that bad dream!
I have to admit that it is a pleasure when you do get a yellow flower out of it.

I used to like it when it had a mass flowering of yellow flowers. However the cleistogamous flowers were annoying. They were hard to notice and by the time you did they had seeded everything. When I noticed it popping up everywhere, I got rid of it. With repotting of several plants, I seem to have gotten completely rid of it.

I think of them as an infestation more than a plant.
