Thanks dvg! When the window is velcro'd up you can't even tell there is lights in there its great.
Ive only looked a little at LED's but they dont seem to be quite there yet, compared to the price of T5's. Do you have other experiences?

Loving the tent. Makes me want one. Seems like it would be perfect to house neps, at least better than a tank which they tend to outgrow. I think I have a new christmas wish . thanks dude! The only thing that worries me is the high humidity affecting the T5s. I know someone who had T5s in their tank and they had issues with them.

Im not too sure how the T5's will fair in the long run, but so far no problems. There is a 14" table fan blowing mist from the humidifier directly below them, but by the time it gets near the lights its just humid air so there is water/condensation accumulating on them. Hopefully they fair ok. If not I guess switching to metal halide might be a solution, since they are often used in humid greenhouses.
What were the issues they had with their T5's?

I'm not thrilled with my LED's, some plants don't respond well, others do Ok. If you want to save on power, I think plasma lights are the way to go and will save money in the long run. T5HO are the cheapest and most effective to start with.

I haven't played with LEDs yet and have thus far had favorable results with various types of fluorescent lighting for my indoor plants. dvg

Ya so far I have really been liking the T5's and for $40 a pop (fixture, ballast, lamp, reflector) you can't really go wrong.

Took two quick photos of my growtent as it sits now. Hoping soon I can add a second table and another five 4' T5's so I can separate my pings from the other plants and level out the lights.

Fascinating set up. Cool idea with the slanted lights.
Are you gunna post some close-ups of those beauties? Your pings and that ceph look really nice! I like the perlite (?) topping.

Thanks Devon! The slanted light works quite well.
I posted a couple photos in my other thread of some pings. A good number of them are dormant so they arent much to show off. The ceph is working on 4new pitchers which Im hoping will be larger than the last 3, so Ill take a photo when a few of them open.
All my pings (except maybe 1or 2) are in a 50/50 perlite/APS mix with a 1-2cm top layer of pure perlite. I use a fairly fine size of perlite which seems to work well.

Looking forward to those ceph pics. Thanks for the ping info. Whenever I get one again, I'll do exactly that. I used to try making really complicated recipes with peat/sand/perlite/vermiculite/etc. They never worked well.

haha ya I try and keep my medias as simplestic as possible... so far its been working ok. My sundews never seem to get very dewy except the prolifera and adelae that I have in a glass jar. I think the air movement might be taking away the dew?? There is a strong fan blowing 24/7 on them and the rest of my plants.

I would think the fan is why they aren't very dewy. I had a fan blowing on my pygmies and they weren't making much dew at all, and when I moved them away from it they got more dewy. Maybe you can get one of those cheap seedling starters and put them in there? My friend does that and gets lots of dew. Only problem with that idea is mold will grow easily.

Well actually the trays that my pings are in came with covers that work great but the trays are full of pings haha. I bought some plastic shoe trays in hopes of using them with the pings (the ones for winter boots and collecting the water from them), but they are rounded in the middle so all the water runs to the edges so they dont work for pings or dews. They are great thought for the neps and orchids which I dont sit in water so they arent going to waste.
I am hoping after xmas I can afford to buy some more lights and another table and put it on the other side of the growtent. This way I can separate the pings/dews from the neps and orchids. This will move them away from the direct air movement and will just get circulating air movement instead which should be better.

My pygmy dews are always dewy (until they get senile and die after a year or two) and they are under LED's in room humidity-~25% in the dead of winter. So the fan must be the problem.

Its actually my South African dews but either way I have to agree with the fan being the problem. Once I have them moved I will be able to tell.
