Wow! Nice plant apoplast! Really beautiful!
No germination on the two seeds I've sown, so far. Hoping one of them does. I will probably try another set soon. Thinking of soaking in smoke water for 48 hours. That may do it...

Thanks Lloyd and Peat! Lloyd - I got mine from BCP. They were a bit pricey, but the germination was really good! Silverhill offers them, but only infrequently. Very infrequently. Like, last time the were offered they were available for less than one week. So, BCP is a reliable source, and has the seeds available which is nice. Peat - To germinate mine, I soaked them with a smoke disk for 48 hours first. Then they came up within a week. If you are interested I got my smoke disks from: finebushpeople.co.za/farmstore/catalog/accessorystore.htmThe shipping is kind of expensive but if you buy 19 rather than 20 disks, by adding single disks, the shipping is less. Oddly they are cheaper to buy as single disks than in packs. I hope this helps.

That's a very nice looking R. gorgonias specimen that you're growing there Apoplast. I reallly like the wideness of the leaves on your plant and the healthy amount of resin showing. Thanks for the update, it's growing great! dvg

I have some smoke germination medium from Australia that I can use. I saw the BCP seeds but they were pricey so I wanted to try somewhere else. I'll take another look at BCP.

Hi Doug - Thanks for the complements, and for allowing me to barge in on your thread again and again.
Hi Lloyd - I agree BCP is more expensive than I'd like, but I haven't found a reliable source of seeds beside them. But if you scout one out, let me know!

Wow, nice plants guys.
Really nice touch of red Apoplast !
Yeah, 9€ for 5 seeds is not cheap at all...

Hi Martin - Thanks, but I don't know why mine are so nice and red. I'm still learning as I go. I like to think of it as 9€ for two Roridula plants (almost 3, drats!).

Here's a pic of mine from this morning. It has colored up more since it has been sitting in a sunny window during the day and is now measuring just under 5" tall. dvg

Hi DVG - It's looking really good! Nice work. It certainly seems to like the light you are giving it. Your leaves are definitely longer than mine. And before anyone makes with the leaf envy jokes - I think mine are thicker, i.e. wider.

Thanks Apoplast. 'Wider' does have its adherents. dvg

Hi Doug (and any one else interested) - The larger of my two little Roridula plants caught its first large prey item recently - a house fly! The insect is so outsized for the plant it is almost silly. Because I don't have any Roridula bugs, it couldn't make use of the meal so I gave it to one of my dews, but not before snapping a shot. It really shows the strength of the resin on those leaves! Thanks for looking!

Nice pic there Apoplast. Mine has caught 3 or 4 houseflies now and a load of feral fruit flies. I just leave them on the plant, in the odd chance that these plants can make use of the carcasses caught. I'm gonna leave it under lights for the winter and see how it does. dvg

Hi Drew - It really was amazing to me to see this big fly stuck by three drops of resin, but it sounds like DVG has had this happen a lot. Still, it's just a cool plant.
Hi DVG - Sounds like your plants have been busy. I don't think this little guy could do much with that fly and my big D. capensis was happy to get it. Someday though... I'll have the right bugs for my plants. Don't know how or when, but someone has to get them to North America someday. Then I will find that person and trade for some bugs!

I just got some seeds from czplants so I'm going to try them. Do people use smoke or GA3 or just stick them in the medium?
