Stewart McPherson is just about to send a couple new volumes of CP books to the publishers. The books are entitled 'Carnivorous Plants and their Habitats Vol. 1 & Vol. 2' and are now available for preorder. Here are contents of the email I received today: ........................................................................ Dear Valued Customers, I have just returned from South America, having examined Philcoxia - the possible new genus of sticky-leaved carnivorous plants. Philcoxia is the last genus required to complete Carnivorous Plants and their Habitats, and this spectacular 1,400 page work will go to press shortly. Research colleagues in Brazil are contributing an up-to-date overview of current understanding of Philcoxia which will be published, for the first time, in these exciting new books. Along with four spectacular new species of Nepenthes, and dozens of other carnivorous plants documented, described and illustrated for the first time. Carnivorous Plants and their Habitats Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 cover the wild ecology, diversity and natural history of all carnivorous plants in their natural habitats - to provide horticulturists with specific information to cultivate carnivorous plants with a greater level of success. The natural history of each genus is documented thoroughly, along with imagery of the most spectacular species of each group. Complete with over 600 beautiful and telling images, the work is uniquely detailed. Both volumes can be preordered for just GBP £29.99 each at www.redfernnaturalhistory.com (GBP £5.00 cheaper than the retail price once published (total saving by preordering GBP £10.00)). Volume One consists of the following chapters: Introduction Tables Turned: A New Natural Order Carnivorous Plants of the World Evolution of Carnivorous Plants Associated Life: Miniature Worlds Snap Traps Aldrovanda Dionaea Pitcher Plants Darlingtonia Heliamphora Sarracenia Nepenthes Cephalotus Brocchinia Catopsis Volume Two consists of: Sticky-Leaved Insect-Eating Plants Triphyophyllum Drosera Drosophyllum Roridula Byblis Pinguicula Proboscidea Philcoxia Corkscrew Plants: Genlisea Bladderworts: Utricularia The future of Carnivorous Plants and their Habitats Glossary Bibliography Appendix (descriptions of four spectacular new Nepenthes species) Index We appreciate your patience while this exhaustive work has taken longer than anticipated to complete. But we are very confident you will enjoy the completed result, once printed. A further update will be sent shortly, once the work is at press Yours sincerely Stewart McPherson Redfern Natural History Productions Ltd. www.redfernnaturalhistory.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- dvg

If you are ordering Pitcher Plants of the Americas, I think that ones cheaper on Amazon. I ordered the pitcher plant books, but no the new ones, and I chose shipping by sea since I'm in no hurry .

I just picked up my copies of 'Carnivorous Plants and their Habitats Vol. 1 & Vol. 2' a couple of days ago.
Once again I am very impressed with the 1442 pages of carnivorous plant genera spread out over the two tomes in this latest offering.
Of interest to me was the 34 pages of text, photos, line drawings and cultivation requirements for both Roridula and Aldrovandra, 40 pages on Drosophyllum and 74 pages for Pinguicula.
There was even a dozen or so pages dealing with Philcoxia, now regarded as a potential new addition to the plant carnivory families.

I noticed on the flyer sent with the latest ICPS magazine, that there is a U.S. price. Both are on Amazon.com for $80.

I've ordered all of the books right from them and had them shipped over. I don't know if i saved money or not but they're really good to deal with and really nice people. I'll be ordering every future book right from them as well.

How could you save money buying and shipping from the U.K.?! It's VERY expensive! How much did it cost for these two volumes?

With books you can never tell where the best deal is. I always compare the prices from the publisher, Abebooks, Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and Indigo. Often the best deal is a small dealer in the country where the book is published. Sometimes you can find the local dealer with just a Google on the book title. I find that shipping from the UK is cheaper and faster than from the USA.

It wasn't too bad for shipping seeing as each one is a small brick.
I think they charge £9 for sea freight and £13 for air. For each book of course.
I ordered 5 or 6 books at once plus the preorder for their new books so I really don't remember how much it was. If you go to their website you can add what ever you want to a cart and see how much it'll come out to.
I really recommend buying any or all of their books as each one is amazing, I've never regretted spending the money on all of them.
