There was no flood. and yes this is a floating log, but it was not drifting free. It was trapped by the marshy bottom and plants. It was near Pary Sound. The leaves on these plants are at least 3 times bigger than any intermedia that I grow or have seen in The Bruce area or Sifton bog or in New Found Land or in Yukon etc.
Doug , Those are some really good pictures. The first sarr pic the one on the far left in zone 3,4,5, of the pitcher. That is the weirdest tube Ive ever seen.If anyone knows what that tube is called I forget .Ive looked and asked everyone ,I have no books here to look it up and its drivin me crazy. The red on it is enough to prove there's anthocyanin in it, so it is a regular S. purpurea ssp. purpurea, although it does have an interesting shape thanks to the "substrate" and lack of sphagnum overgrowth

The Sars. P.P. in the area looked like normal pitcher plants but the sundews looked like they are a hybrid. There are clumps of round leaf and intermedia in the area and then these special ones. There were at least 3 different areas with the special ons!
I am reluctant to give out the location publicly ;D
