I've heard ALOT of stories about heliamphoras being probably one of the hardest cp's to grow. I've been thinking of getting one this summer, and all I know about growing helis are this -Very good dranaige media (thinking of using 100% live sphagnum) -INTENSE light -cool days and even cooler nights -high humidity *note* If sunlight causes algae, then wouldn't giving live sphagnum too much light cause algae problems? If it sounds too hard for me, I'll just wait a little more untill I'm more experienced. . But please do tell me if helis are not as hard to grow as people say. I've never had much luck with highland neps

Heliamphora doesn't necessarily have to be unduly difficult to keep in collections.
Some Heli species are much less temperamental than others. A few beginner Helis to consider trying might include H. minor, H. heterodoxa or H. x 'Lloyd's Nutans'.
The previous two years, Lloyd has divided his H. nutans, and shared them with members across Canada. And he only asked for the shipping to be paid. If he offers them again this year or next, make sure you try to get a piece of this plant,
as it is not only beautiful, but also forgiving.
