Maybe it would be a good idea to have a cutoff date for payments?

yeah! I fear that some of the other plants might be sold out if this lingers too long. Why not just post a cutoff date by when you will order and people need to send their payment in by then?

The time it takes to arrive in Canada depends on how quickly Best Carnivorous Plants can fill the order, on the Post office, and on customs. As with all overseas orders, we cross our fingers and hope for the best. Once it is sent, it will have a tracking number, and we can all watch it as it comes from Czechosolvakia to here with joy and hope. Best carnivorus Plants guarentees their plants, so if anything dies in transit, or there is a freak cold snap, they will replace things. But you will have to prove it is dead with a picture.

Yeah, you are right. I am giving everybody who is part of this order until Wednesday of next week to pay up, and if I don't hear from you, I will be taking your part of the order out and sending in the rest of the order without you. I think that is more than reasonable. Really sorry to have to do this, but those who have yet to pay are holding up the whole works. People want their plants.

Like in the pm i sent canadaone, I'll make it clear to everyone else what's up.
Cathy said she lost the cheque i sent her for the payment of the plants i ordered. Cathy said she lost the cheque on the bus in a pm she sent me. This wasn't a regular cheque as I would have had to order some from my bank, which can take up to two weeks... So I made a certified cheque, to her name. Now here's the catch. A certified cheque CANNOT be cancelled, meaning that the 320$ cheque i sent her cannot be cancelled/reimbursed into my account, forcing ME dish out another 320$ to make ANOTHER cheque. I went through hoops with my bank and 10 days later, and after speaking to almost everyone that is top dog at my bank, the bank is holding ME accountable for the lost cheque. I've sent a replacement cheque out to Cathy for my part of the order last week.
To break it down, I am being witheld 320$ for 5 years(!!!) by my bank for someone else's mistake, go through hours of waiting and phone calls and appointments, all to have my part of the order cancelled! I don't think so. I appologise for the inconvience this situation has caused everyone. Learn from this mistake.
DO NOT EVER MAKE CERTIFIED CHEQUES. THEY CAN'T BE CANCELLED, AND THE CHEQUE WRITER IS HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR 5 YEARS. 320$ IS A LOT OF MONEY TO JUST THROW OUT THE WINDOW FOR 5 YEARS, WITHOUT INTEREST.

I will say this Blokeman. You have my profound apology. And my promise that if you are held liable, I will pay the full amount. And for me that will hurt big time as I am disabled and live on $800 a month. I don't know what else I can say.

Just as a quick reminder to those that have ordered a small N. aristolochioides: BCP has decided they are now 'medium' sized plants, and are selling them for 35 EUROS.
Make the price adjustment to your orders...

These days it's hardly ever necessary to send a cheque or money order. PayPal is one example. Most banks (like TD-CT which I use) allow you to transfer money to anybody with an email address. I used it to send money to Sib. Certainly you should never have to use a certified cheque, an ordinary cheque would be fine, you just might want to wait the week or two for it to clear if you didn't know the person.

I'd have used a normal cheque but i didn't have any, and to order some would take 2 weeks, so I asked the clerk if there was another quicker option, and SHE suggested a certified cheque(without telling me the consequences of what would happen if it were ever lost) Canadaone doesn't have paypal, so that was not an option, otherwise i'd have taken that route a long time ago. Live and learn... the hard way
