Yes my Brocchinia are not under a dome nor in a tank and are exposed to our arid Alberta air.

Here is an update on my Catopsis berteroniana. It has almost doubled in size, growing from about two inches to just over 3.5 inches, since I got it. It is growing in a four inch pot, in straight perlite and it gets fed the occasional fruit fly from time to time. dvg

Wow, it certainly has grown. That's a big jump in just a couple of months.

Thanks Jun,
These plants have a reputation for being slow growers, so i'm happy with the progress thus far.

DVG, does yours produce alot of white powdery stuff on the leaves? Oh, yes it does make that powdery waxy coating. It probably doesn't show up so well in these pics though because the plant was just sprayed down prior to the photos being taken. How is yours coming along Labine...any pics? dvg

Very nice Catopsis Labine. That's why it is also called the Powdery Strap Airplant.
And your dewy pines are looking pretty sweet there...hopefully they flower for you and set seed soon. Nice bit of growing going on with those babies

Beautiful Labine. I don't know but its fascinating: - Is yours just older than Doug's plant or because you grow it in lower humidity than his? - Does the white powder disappear when the plant is misted? We see this in airplants as well...which would explain the lower humidity scenario. I am trying to see if I can get some of these seeds from BCP. I am highly skeptical if they will be even fresh enough to bother but hey...its a freebie so, might as well give it a shot.

I think the waxy caoting almost become transparent when misted. also , i had problem getting a picture in the day. i did not see it much of the white stuff on the picture. Does the seeds needs Scarification?
