Mabudon - nice photos. Can't wait for next spring when I may see the same.
Your bog looks like it's in a container of sorts. Is it buried? Reason I ask is I'm debating containers or in-ground. I'm tending toward in-ground as being better for overwintering since containers may freeze all the way through.

Thanks- sorry about the funky blue tone on the closeup shots, taking pics of it is tricky. One thing I wanted to point out, in the picture with the Ping, the green thing at about the 4 o'clock position is a bog cranberry leaf, about 5 mm long if that.
Hal- it's a Mr.Turtle sandbox and it is sitting on the ground. I don't think it would be as effective if it weren't in a real cozy micro-climate about 4 feet from the foundation of the house and sheltered from most wind by buildings on both sides. I hope you DO get to see such a thing next year, no doubt the folks hereabouts can help you get there!

You're welcome! Ohhhh, yeah. You might have to do it at some point though! Maybe if you took them out and like got as much dirt off as you could, and then got a bucket of distilled water and shake the roots in the water until it comes off mostly? Hehe I dunno. But they do look nice together, so maybe it's not really a concern! You could just pot them in a bigger pot together hehe. Mine are doing well! I haven't been paying a lot of attention to them lately other than watering though hehe. So much homework lately... I'm making the topic go bad again... ITS MY MAGICCC

Hehe good idea then! I guess they're pretty short so it might be hard to keep their leaves from hitting the water - you're right.
HAHA yep, I do the same. I've been up until 6am every night since Thursday night (Friday morning I guess!). It's pretty sweet. I still do take a little bit of time to look at my plants, but there's much work to be done!
HAHA I hope so!

Tomorrow it's going up to 19C so I had to get my plants out. I didn't have much choice last winter so I just took my outside pots, put them behind a fence where there's no sun and covered them with plastic garbage bins. Amazingly my assorted hybrid sarr seedlings, now over one year old look in great shape. My other plants are a mixed bag. I think I lost all my VFT's and older S. leuco's and flava's and some D. filiformis. It's hard to tell, I think there was a lot of frost damage and maybe primary/secondary mildew from poor air circulation. Time will tell.
Today I went to clean up and things aren't quite as bad as I thought. Some of the VFT's seem to be alive and some of the filiformis, flava's and leucophylla's might have made it. Plus mabudon appeared out of nowhere and gave me two nice flavas (with flower buds), some filiformis and a ping! Thanks, Carl. I hope you enjoyed the fries and the food court.

Lloyd- we are very happy to have made the "out-of-the-blue" rendevous. This post has taken almost a half hour to type since Elf and I are both reminiscing about the wacky tales your little J was telling us. I am glad to have helped you- I think you'll find the Sarrs I ripped out for you to be impressive, the giant S. flava "cuprea" might take til next year to meet the standard of the name, but it is bomb-proof and truly enourmous. Thank you for your kind hospitality and the chance to meet your most entertaining little guy BACK on topic (and partial segue provided in Lloyds post above) I have roughly 2" flower stalks on many of my Sarrs outside, will try to take pics tomorrow!!

Just checked my outside stuff which I uncovered last Friday. I notice it's going to be coldish for the next little while; 8-10C in the day and 2-4C at night. Does anybody think I should cover them up at night? They have been outside all winter (covered by plastic bins).
