The growth looks amazing...but considering that it is 3 months of growth and also considering that there aren't any controls in this case, personally I am not convinced if it is the coffee doing that magic. Perhaps conditions were great to begin with. Unless the plant is totally stalled and only coffee addition stirred it into action, its hard to believe it to be the cause. (IIRC your macfarleni hybrid was the one that benefit from the trmt) Nonetheless, some truly enigmatic and wonderful plants you got there. Great size as well on that villosa and macrophylla.

this is probly a very late post but... does it still have to be distilled water when you feed the CPs the Tea?

Devon, I use either RO or distilled water for making my coffee. The trouble with using regular untested water is that if it contains a high mineral content, those said minerals will end up in the growing medium when the coffee or tea is poured through the pot. Now doing it once, might not do much harm, but probably not worth taking the chance or getting into that habit.

I've updated my latest and in all likelihood last set of pics with regards to the coffeed Neps.(See pics above) Unfortunately the rajah has been removed from the corner in that little tank due to the cramped growing space with it's ever increasing larger leaves. It's now in a more spacious tank and is doing well. In it's place I have substituted another villosa, one that I just recently received from Jack at HB. I placed a penny with it for size reference. I fully expect the new villosa to be every bit the size of, if not larger than, the villosa growing next to it, in a year's time. All plants are growing in 5" pots.
So those are the coffeed macrophylla and villosa shown after three months and again after six months. I'm not sure what it proves, other than the fact that one coffee treatment shouldn't be too detrimental to your Nep's overall health. The truth is, healthy plants grow with or without coffee.

Since this was intended to be a coffee treatment thread, here is an update on some of my coffee fed Nepenthes. These plants were purchased from CZ Plants in May of 2008. They were all potted up into five inch diameter plastic pots, and were initially grown together in a 16" x 8.25" terrarium. Once the N. rajah outgrew the terrarium it was moved into a terra of its own. Just to show a progression of these plant's growth since February 2009 up until today, here are some previous shots. From February 5, 2009. From left to right, N. Macrophylla, N. villosa, N. rajah. May 2, 2009 August 3, 2009 The rajah was moved out and replaced with a smaller villosa in this pic. Today I decided to squeeze the rajah back into the terra with the original villosa and macrophylla, just to show how the plants have grown since the last update. All of these plants have been given two or three coffee feedings since I first began the coffee treatments in Feb, 2009. Today, April 16, 2010 From left to right, N. villosa, N. rajah, N. macrophylla. And because the rajah covered up some of the villosa and macrophylla in the terra shot, here are the plants spread out together on our sidewalk. Left to right, N. macrophylla, N. rajah, N. villosa. Although a commercial fertilizing program might very well have sped up the growth of these plants, i am happy with their overall health, and general appearance. Coffee does seem to be quite safe for use as a starter fertilizer. And it looks like I'll be repotting these plants in the next couple months or so. dvg

Thanks guys. Now that I've had a bit of success with the coffee feedings, i am actually going to be moving on to soil fertilizing my Neps with low urea commercial fertilizers. Hmmmm, I smell the "E" and "C". Is this correct? hb Are those 'vitamins' Dr Hacker B? And just what kinda mutant experiments are you cookin' up in that mad scientist's lab of yours, these days anyways? ;D dvg

I got some coffee grounds from Second Cup. What's the consensus:
Grounds + distilled or tap (Toronto is hard water)? Leave in or rinse with distilled? Boil/heat or just mix room temp with grounds?
