Redfern charged me 75.96 GBP which worked out to $154.07 CAD, at the time. It's quite possible that by ordering both books together, there is a slight savings on shipping. It appears that this author has five more cp related books coming out soon, and he does an excellent job with his books. I can't wait to see the others. And I heard that Allen Lowrie has another book in the works...a compilation of his previous three volumes as well as some new material, all presented in a new Vol. 4. I haven't heard if he is making any headway on the book. It was supposed to be released by now, so hopefully that one comes along soon also.

You know... among all of us CP nuts, we can probably publish our own Canadian CP grower's/collector's book... just stories of our passion and photos of our plants. There are a lot of independent publishers out there... and digital books.
And if folks like Rick Kheen and Jack of Hawaiian Botanicals permit, we could also show commercial growers and nurseries too.
Made in Canada, by Canadians (and Friends) for all to enjoy.

I didn't realize the exchange rate was so high. Is GBP British Pounds? I thought they were only 30 pounds each - why were you charged 75.96? I think I'm going to wait a while until they are available here, or I can get them cheaper somehow. I got Pitcher Plants of the Americas softcover in Florida last year, and the price on the book is $34.95. I got it on sale though, and I don't remember what the exchange rate was then.

The $154.07 is in Canadian funds. For that tidy sum, I received both hardcover books and shipping was included. GBP is Great Britain Pounds. The 'PP of the Americas' was published by McDonald & Woodward Publishing Company out of Blacksburg, Virginia, hence the cheaper bookprice. These new additions may not go to an American publisher right away if ever...these may be fringe books and not mainstream enough to be in mass print. But you're right, if you wait these books may be offered at a cheaper price, even through Amazon, eventually. But I do know from experience that these specialty plant books are not cheap, and if one wants them hot off the press, sometimes a steep price need be paid.

I'll write the chapter on a thousand ways to kill carnivorous plants, as I probably did that back in my earlier days. I've learned a bit since then.
