Hi, just some observations made while repotting my U. reniformis. I received it potted in a 4" pot (100% LFS) and I wanted to optimize its growth. Althought it was growing well, i decided to run some potting test by testing some others substrates gathered on others forums such as: - plain LFS (as it came in) - 1:1 LFS: perlite - Nepenthes mix (I used Flytrap's recipe) - 1:1 Potting soil: fine orchids bark All potted in square 4" pot. It has been stated at a lot of place that this plants like it airy, and although it grew fine on me in pure LFS, here's what was observed upon repotting and cutting the mass in 2 Apparently, the center of the media wasn't airy enough to promote roots stolons growth. I 'll try to keep you updated on the growth in the others substrates. Anyone else, beside Treefrog, grows this species?

I have mine in LFS and it is pretty so-so, certainly not as nicely rooted as yours. Mine is in a slotted pot in a dish of water.

I used Peter D'amato's recipe 1 part each of fine orchid bark , sphagnum moss , peat moss and perlite . It's been in that for a few years and loves it . The Savage Garden book .

I had several extra of this plant to trade or sell Devon by the beginning of summer. If you are still interested, send me a PM (and have a look at my growlist, just in case something might catch your interest, we never know). Having known that 2 weeks before, i could have send you some along with those S. purpurea f heterophylla!

I grow mine in a slotted/perforated pot filled with LFS sitting in a plastic dish with an inch of water.

What kind of medium is that in? Is the bottom just opening right into the hanging sphagnum basket? It's a beautiful plant.

Thanks for the comments , it hasn't flowered yet not sure why not. I just follow the recipes in the savage garden book , Peter D'amato is genius .Its in a coconut fibre basket liner , fully enclosed at the bottom . Its under 50% shadecloth .
