since everyone else is documenting there setups, i figure i should do the same.
so it ALL started last year, got a suprise VFT from my mother which died from wrong soil, and possible to little light, it was in front of a west facing window, it only lasted a couple of months, i believeit was a youth Dente (NO PIC)
this is what sparked my intrest to Grow
ALL PICS CAN BE CLICK AND ENLARGED

then by the end of winter, i had ordered new VFT's from Kheens C., what i ordered was a B52 and Red Dragon, and also recieved a Bonus Sundew which i still dont know what it exactly is, they took 5 days to get here in the mail and this is what they looked like i had them growing under GRO n SHOW light 6 inches away bagged for max humidity, this was back when i cared for them to much 25% SAND, PERLITE, PEAT, LFSM i started using aquafina bottled, buying it everywere i went i had to meters so i could not read temp or humidity

as my obsession grows i came to the conclusion that i needed more plants so i could moderate my love yaknow lmao but that dident happen for a while i first wanted to establish a good grow setup and was totally clueless to what needed to be done and was just going off Gut about a month in, my plants came alive and was showing new growth which seemed promising(more so on the B52)all old traps had died from the sudden change which i did nothing to climitize i had changed form Aquafina water to big bottled disstiled from co-op, which i flushed plants with to clean salts away, the new traps were very very red, small and short compared to old dead traps which i beleieve are from being waterlogged, and lack of light the dews were just taking off from the beggining they were very red form me bringing them outside on sunnydays

so i began planning my setup spending many nights planning the best way to do this( not knowing of OCPS at this time and still fairly new) i though the things to focus on were - good real sunlight + artifical light for gloomy days
- constant rain water supply and humidity
- air circulation
- protection form elements
i figured that by doing this itd be best to have plants partially outside, unaware of a bog garded i planed on making a semi self supporting open terrarium which would alow for both inside and outside capability, will LOTS of trial and error i came up with this rough setup behind the white sun reflector is my bachelor suite the problems i had with this inital setup was that during the midday sun it would get to blistering hot in there in the 40- 46c causing traps to wilt , the sundews loved it though

looking nice dude! good evolution. Thats what this hobby is all about....improving. You wouldn't believe that in 2 years you look back at this post and chuckle at the faulty practices with which you started off. I do that all the time...lol! look at my very first post...see how I foolishly expected a 13 watt light bulb to give enough light to my VFTs.

So far so good, thanks for sharing your "trip" so far!
Are you still using the setup in that last picture, or have you changed it up a bit??

naa im always tweakin n playin with it,got tired of typin i still got a lil catchin up to do, So the next step was to make all the other attachments since that was just base, and the elements could get to it as these pics show it was the first wild storm witch included hail, and all the traps got a piece or at least the new ones, at this point there was about 6 new traps dews dident care ( i dont tend to them much)except for turnin dark red notice how submerged everyhting is at this point, i mistook what a bog was the soil was completely saturated, my father pointed it out to me, he has plenty exsperiance growing a diffrent kinda plant all the empty containers are for my new plants

well say tomato, then the next step was to attach the: Lightingi purchased a double ballast, power saver light's holder, which has i believe a 30watt day and 30 watt warm after putting everyhintg together and siliconing to make it more water proof, i added a semi clear white reflector, made out of a cheap material used in templating, which unfortunitely does not reflect as much light as i was hoping, instead letting to much pas through the lights are hanging on two hooks which are directly attached to the light ballast and the pressure treated cedar, which allows me to remove it when needed or if plants possible get to big, the reflector is just sitting between hook to allow for good air movement to help maintain temp next was: Rain catcherthe rain catcher is made out of a simple rain gutter cut down to fit ,siliconed in real good and placed on slight angle to allow full drainage. i heated up a pin and poked couple holes which allows for slow drainage throughout 8 hour period, which then drips on a flat rock causing misting and humidity and lower temp on blisterin days the prob im having is that everything gets stuck in it and cloges it up so im planning on putting a mesh screen to sift out dead foliage. i used the same templating material to help direct all rain water in to holder which easily fills every rain. allowing for hours of added humidity and i guess i should also get back to: Under Plant water trayso what i did was used a huge tray my parents were using to catch water, dug a hole about 10 inches deep outside my basement window lared gravel then white rocks, put tub on top white rocks around making sure its angled, then put white rocks inside, which i used for a longtime drowning my plants, EVENTULLY taking slabbed white grantie, cut in to inch strips and layered nicely on bottom creating level serface above water and thats pretty much all there is to it Shademy setup is hit by the hottest sun possible south facing so shade is provided by nothing really i blast them all with full sun poorguys some days i have bamboo shade thing but i rarely use it now i have cedar sidding in middle of the front which blocks some specific plants at specific times which can be angled for more light or air movement (new seen in light pics)

Judging from Jay's and Mabudon's mini-bogs, the Sarrs, VFT's, pings and dews can never get too much sunlight.

thats probobly true, i dident adjust ant plants properly so i burnt my sarr and ping and my ping is doing just horrible, i really dont care for it as much as the others unfortuitely, im trying to revive it right now around the time i got the setup semi-complete i had purchased: - drosera multifida extreme (KC) (No good pic) - Drosera capensis(KC) - purple pitcher plant(KC) (No Good Pic) - VFT Bigmouth (Sdeering) - Ping Cyclosecta(SDeering) (No good pic) doing horrible, you dont wanna see it and last another simple sundew they were potted in the pots i had sitting while i waited for them to arrive, i dident adjust any of them so most fo them lost all old leaves and traps, and have began creating newones

AUG 26
so I just cleaned my setup yesterday of all the algea, caterpillars and spiders, also i noticed a shiny layer of oil on top of water
then put everything back together but dug out rocks and put deeper in the ground assuming winter will be sooner then later
then i ran water through all the plants flushing everything till setup was again filled with clean reverse osmosis water
i had to the alter rain catcher because bugs would drowned in it then clog up drip holes making it less self maintained, What i did was lared up table cloth many times then tacked it in, then weighed down middle, allowing canyon to collect dead bugs in center
i spray painted reflector white so it wouldn't let so much light through, i shoulda used a white one to begin with, me just rushing ass usual
n thats about it, no shade, daily hand misting morning night, with drip spray through rest of day
humidity reaches 100 at night and 70 -80 in day
ants stay outta VFT's allowing them to open and get color
H. minor has resumed growth and each division is now growing again even the which had no root
struggling with Sdeerin simple dews but i messed it up when i got it
Ceph is taking off, Sarr is STINKY, capenisis is catching many wasps, and i also found a lonely VFT denta at IGA which i had to rescue, also lonely ping may have a long dormancy iv tried to trick it out but its being stubborn, i dunno all is good in GP
