I know a couple of folks who are doing TC work, but I don't know as they had kits, I think they were using actual "science equipment" (sorry to get all technical ) Have you reid e-bay or maybe Universitiescould help you out (old Aggie comes to mind first, in Guelph)

Tried this kitchen kind of tissue culture - it works, nothing germinated yet, but no bacterial growth either for more than two weeks. I damned all this idea when was dissolving food agar in microwave oven. In my memory, agar flakes from chemical supplies company dissolve much easier than pure phillippine food agar. Still, so far so good. Definitely occupies less space.

Try www.kitchenculturekit.comGreat kit, but a lot of what come in can be made easily from home. The hardest part to find in Canada are generally media and hormones, but there shouldn't be any problem from importing from USA on this point.

I do all of it. Started out with orchids and mushrooms. Seed, multiplication and rooting. If you need media I have all of it. I use a flow hood I built, or a low tek, high seed flat dome. Both work well. All U need is a: pressure cooker Ro water media seed or plant material seed flat dome bleach spray lysol h202 baby food jars small band aids tape syringe long tweezers scalpel
It takes a lot of patience. When things get contamination, or just don’t grow. You have to start over. It’s best to start with seed, easer to sterilize. I have some vft cuttings in TC but so far not much going on also some vft seed and drosera seed. Let me know if you are interested I could trade media for plants or cash, what ever suits your fancy. I can also help with the technical stuff if needed. Stephen

hey stephen what mediums do u use and where do u buy it? also can you share some of your techniques/media formulations that you use? I tried doing some tc a few years ago but failed because i wasn't able to get any tissue to establish on the medium.

I purchase my medium from phyto technologys in the US. The medium is cheep but the shipping is a little high.
Hears a quicky: Mix medium with RO h20 adjust PH sterilize. Sterilize plant tissue 10% of regular bleach 90% h20 for 15 min and rinse 3 times with sterile water. Recut tissue ends if needed and place in medium under sterile conditions.
You don’t need a hood I built one, but I usually use a tall seed flat dome with a door cut in it wide enough for both hands. Spray everything down with 10% bleach or lysol. I wipe my hands with lysol wipes. Stephen

ahhh sounds like the basic procedure, I'm guessing you use the common MS basal medium? 1/2 strength?

the quest for the plantlet, My best resource is www.fisherscientific.comi believe its in oakville. they have a minimum purchase of $250 They sell to the public they have every type of agar, flow hoods, hormones, and the chems they wont sell you you really dont need. to keep bacteria down be sure to incubate below body temp; ive found plates with all sorts of colorful flora the black mold is pretty scarey. but they have wax tape to seal the dishes for safety in disposing them. they also have disposible inoculating loops to place the cutting as not to contaminate it. they also have flasks beakers dissecting kits syringe filters and sample containers.and water purification equipment . from what ive seen there is definitly some serious botanists here out of my league.please be careful with the gibberellic acid as it extremely dangerous.before using any chemical should read msds easy site is www.sciencelab.com be safe sticky

I have found that Phytotech is fairly reasonable. For instance gibberellic acid is $32 at Fisher and $23 at Phytotech for 1 gm. I looked up Gibberellic acid www.epa.gov/oppsrrd1/REDs/factsheets/4110fact.pdfand it doesn't seem to be all that toxic although it is irritating to the eye and it should be treated with care.
