Is that the Petrel Point fen?
My cousin's cottage is right across the street from the portion of the fen on the right side of the road as you face the bay.
He has a spot behind his cottage that has the most amazing S. purps. They are growing at the edges of a cedar grove in rock hard soil. The pitchers are smaller than my baby finger, yet these plants flower every year.
How they grow there is beyond me, unless they have REAL deep roots!
I'll try to get a picture of them next summer that shows their size.

Yep, Jay beat me to it- Purpman is the kneeling one (I think he was lookin at Utrics or fruitlessly trying to see if one of the D.linearis we saw might have been D.anglica) I am the long-hair fellow and Ross is in the back there It's in my neighborhood as much as it is in yours, Varun, so don't be jealous, heck, you are about 30 minutes drive closer to it than I am What grows there?? D.linearis, D.rotundifolia, S.purpurea (can't recall the specific name, but it's the "marl fen" version, it's small and red due to the soil it grows in) P.vulgaris (tho this grows in places away from the others, the biggest "stand" we saw was near the edge of some woods) and some Utrics- there was a REALLY cool patch of a yellow flowered Utric (which I keep wanting to call U.cornuta but Purpman or maybe Jay would know better) way out on the sandbar that looked really odd from far away, like a bright yellow mirage Introducing anything that isn't already there would be unwise for a bunch of reasons, but as it is, pretty much every species that CAN grow there, already does, as the fen habitat is kinda nothing like most other habitats in Canada

Jay you should get Niagara Parks Comission signs and charge admission to the tourists.
