I was looking through a preview of Sterwart McPherson's forthcoming book 'Glistening Carnivores' (now on preorder status) and there was a few pictures of Ledothamnus decumbens (a carnivore to be). From the picture shown, the plant looks like a conifer (spruce) tip with four flowers growing from the end. The flower scapes are sticky with 'dew'. Now this may only be a sticky plant along the lines of a Roridula and may not have acids or digestive enzymes, but none the less is an interesting looking plant. Have any of you out there heard of or know a little about this plant? A quick google search revealed little. It can be viewed at : www.redfernnaturalhistory.com/glistcarnimagegallery1.htmregards, dvg

Lloyd, I guess the 'Glistening Carnivores: The Sticky-leaved Insect-Eating Plants' and 'Lost Worlds of the Guiana Highlands' books by Stewart McPherson are now available, as they arrived in today's mail. I had pre-ordered them in February. Both are hardcover editions, supplied with a glossy dust jacket apiece. For those of you familiar with Stewart's work, through his previous work, 'Pitcher Plants of the Americas', expect more of the same quality photography, plus impressive habitat information. Also listed as coming available by Stewart McPherson are books entitled, 'Carnivorous Plants and their Habitats', 'Carnivorous Plants of the World', 'Pitcher Plants of the Old World Vol One' and also 'Pitcher Plants of the Old World Vol. Two'. It seems Mr. McPherson has not only become a very prolific writer on one of our favorite topics, but has also been putting on some very frequent flier miles, which is a blessing for us, because we can always afford to learn a little more about these fully absorbing plants.

After I move, I think I may go into buying mode: books, plants, grow-set-ups, maybe even a greenhouse. For now I'm on hold except to flesh out my outside CP's (Thanks to all the donors).
