Any of you grown Aldrovanda? I've never grown it, but would be interested in hearing from those who have - successes and failures.

No unfortunatly, but a cper in Quebec had nice result with it over more than a year... than he (the cper, not the plant) just vanished... no news from him since 2 years... He doesn't seemed to bother with any special care, just a bowl of water and light

I read that aldrovanda is like an aquatic VFT. Thats pretty neat. Too bad we don't get too many places to sell CPs in mississauga. Damn...I can't even find a terrestrial utricularia anywhere.

I received some from Purpman's offer (about 1 month ago?), and they grows pretty fast! Barry M. Rice say in ti's book that it might be the fastest growing CP... and i second that statement . For now, it seems trouble free, but with a bit elongated growth: I'll try to gave them more light, and perhaps take a picture in a few weeks So far, I've been growing it in a small cookie jar style glass pot with a lid. It contains about 3 liters (3/4 gallon) of water which I boiled with about 2-3 cups of peat. I've added a sedge ( Carex sp.) to the whole thing, to pump a few of the exceeding nutrients, and place the whole thing under fluorescent tube. I tried a strand of Aldrovanda in my fish aquarium too, it is growing nicely, but a bit slower than the other one. This might be due to the disturbance from the filter, higher pH and likely nutrients/salts or a somewhat competition with the U.gibba in there, but still, it is not on the dying side!

Pics will be tricky Varun, they are REAL small and kinda transparent, so if/when ya see them they might not be as exciting as it sounds like you're expecting (being the VFT freak of our forums as you are)

I also have that Aldrovanda. It only gets natural light and looked like it was going into dormancy so it's in the fridge for the winter. I didn't even think of putting it in with the fish.
Vraev, I sent you a pm about terrestrial utrics.

Thanks guys. lol carl! yeah....I guess I am too crazy about VFT's. But there isn't much to do now considering its off season now. This is another reason I want to expand with the beautiful nepenthes + utricularia. thanks for the offer lloyd. I sent u back a PM.
