Hi guys, After lloyd (who gave me the calcifyda) was like "Those utrics look really sad...you should give them their own pot", I was thinking about somehow doing this for the calcifyda. Lol! the longfolia that flytrap has given me is overrunning it. . I want to save a nice pure piece of just calcifyda before it completely overruns it. I was thinking about potting it in a clear plastic glass with some dead LFS that i used for neps and submurge it in water always. basically the LFS would float up...and the calcifyda will have something to grab onto. I want to have something where I can see its nice roots. Is it possible to grow a calcifyda in just water with like a little handful of LFS?? basically I was thinking of using the tim hortons ice cap cup or it. cheers, varun

BTW...lloyd....how do I stop that calcifyda from flowering. The thing isn't setting seed or anything. It just flowers...the corolla falls off and thats it. It would be even better if it makes seed. I like this utric soo much becos of its leaves. but the dang thing is just weakening itself. You see 4 flower stalks there. Now there are 2 more.

I never heard of growing it in water or LFS. I find it loves peat & sand especially if you repot it often at least once a year or whenever the number of leaves goes down. I never found that flowering weakens it but if the plant looks weak just repot it. The flowers will produce seeds if you leave them but they are small and hard to harvest. I think they are only fertile if you let them ripen to the point of falling off the plant. I used to leave them after the corolla fell off but then I had a problem with it popping up all over the place.
