Thought I'd post a couple things I've done and/ have on the go-
Dormancy- I bought a lot of Sarrs off Dan and I potted them into three large pots. Problem then became how to store them to get these guys over the winter. So I copied what a friend does and I dug a hole in my garden about three feet deep and then put the pots in. Then I filled it with leaves and covered the pit with plastic to keep excessive water out. The plastic lays on landscape ties with the center being higher so water runs off the plastic. The leaves will provide some insulation as we get lows of -20 or so during the winter although its normally around zero.
I also took some more pullings of my Red Dragon and put them in a jar full of Reverse Osmosis Water and will see if they root. The plant itself is now outside as its needs to get out from under my grow lights and prepare for dormancy. So its getting cooling nights and less light. Over time all my VFT's are being removed from their pots, cleaned with distilled water, sprayed with a bit of the fungicide Safer's "Defender" then stuck in individual plastic baggies and put into the fridge.
Finally, I took some nice red sphagnum moss that I got and am trying to grow it. Will have to see how that goes. Just have it in a bucket full of wet peat moss with the live sphagnum sprinkled on top.

quote from online sales page::: Safe arrival of live plants cannot be guaranteed during the winter months of November to March unless the signature required option with Express or Priority Post is chosen for shipping during that time. If Expedited Parcel Post is chosen through the winter months then shipping is at the customers risk. ---------------------------- I got my plants as an express package during september. Arrived in 2 days from BC to mississauga. So there u go. Quebec isn't too far either. Just don't risk it with expedited. Weather is gettting too cold. Second time when I got more plants...it was right before the cold "drift" started around 1 month ago......this time I tried expedited...it took 11 days to arrive. Even the red dragon was in the list of arrivals with a green dragon. The are all alive and kicking well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I am not rick's sales associate or someone. I'm just a really satisfied customer...and I am trying to help other canadian CP'ers to know keehns as one of the premier CP stores. As he gets more sales, he can increase his variety more. If you already notice...the banner on top...the marquee on his page....he says there are new varities of VFT's gettting prepared for next spring. So keep a lookout, keehns CP's is definately going to become of the CP main sources for canadians. One thing I hated about Hawaiian Botanicals is, I mailed them my order.....got a reply back after 10 days...when I already decided its too late.....but to be polite...I reconsidered getting it anyways....but mailed them with another Q, and I have been trying to reach them on phone during their "OPEN"times....but no reply. Keehns was on the ball. I sent him an email...he emailed me back asap by that night. Answered all my concerns without getting annoyed by a noob CP'er asking too many questions. I guess thats why I always recommend that store to everyone who asks for CP's.
