I am contemplating keeping my ping collection, temperates and Mexican pings in the attic for the winter. How much cold can they tolerate? I don't think the attic actually freezes, but can easily get as low as 3 or 4 C.

Media : I use a 100 % mineral media : 2 perlite, 2 vermiculite, 1 small sand (for aquarium), 1 fine white sand, 1 pouzzolane (volcanic lava), 1 aqualit (expansed ceramic for aquarium). The aqualit can be replaced by 1 of pouzzolane. Plants in this media grow slower but have a stronger root system.
I'm just using peat & sand, with LFS on top for just about everything.
Yeah, I'd be interested in the normal daily highs and lows for the area. I'll have to either Google or PM Eric.

i think you can use lava rocks instead of pouzolane, and looking at his pictures, he seems to put a few in it.
