very very nice mate. I see LFS and bark in good amounts over there. I have never acclaimatised my plants when i got them. The obvious reason for the loss of all pitchers whenever I get any plants. I guess I should start doing that from now. good luck with them. In your conditions, they should be up and running in no time.

Thanks Varun, when my digicam batteries recharge Ill take a pic of the pulchella...
If you read some of the first hand accounts of explorations of the Tepuis, no heli has ever been found growing in peat or sphagnum, but usually in the accumulations of windblown debris which has built up over time.
In fact there is one account of a heli formation actually stopping at the edges of peat formation...
probably due to the high levels of rain

hmm...in that case what would be the most natural media that can be made for the helis

V,
In their natural environment they receive 2000-4000mm of annual rainfall. At those amounts I imagine peat would just stay too saturated... comes back to the media needs being tied to watering levels...
that being said, i am very pleased with the combination of a cypress based media with a heavy watering schedule

hmm.... that means having a heli is like a full time job. Currently my plants can go without watering for almost a week.
Did u ever think of automating your setup B? I am seriously cosnidering it. I got the pumps from lloyd...but I still need to use them. I was looking up mistking nozzles. they are expensive...but look pretty good.

yes, but like many of my projects I haven't done much about it yet..
probably use a old plc (programmable logic controller) and then just write the ladder logic myself... that way i can make the system somewhat "intelligent"
and helis don't have to be a daily routine mate, just use more sphag and less bark... it's just finding the right balance, lots of people use live sphag and have wonderful looking helis with a lot less attention
messing with my plants is my down time.... good stress reliever, so their daily attention is as much for me as them
take a PLC class/lab if you get the chance, you would enjoy it

I think I water mine every second or third day. I get sort of paranoid and water them almost every day in the hot summer weather. The soil mix is really porous (Savage Garden).
