I am in the position to buy some, but the guy who is offering them to me has gotten me pretty confused- he says if I can grow Neps, I can grow Helis in the same place (maybe with something to keep the humidity a bit higher) since I grow my Neps on my windowsill, I figured I could put Helis there too... any thoughts on that?? I believe the Heli's in question are some sort of hybrids, but the grower isn't exactly sure about which one....

I had a minor that I grew in a nice open potting mix. The plant was actually in my kitchen bay window, I had it in a split bubble dome, but think that it would have been alright without it. watter often, never left it sitting in water, was growing well till it got moved and dried out! Sib

Do you know who sells them, are they expensive? Would like to try, but can't find them in Canada.

I am buying them from a local collector- where are you at Ellen??? If you're near Niagara, I could mybe help you out- the seller is going to come right to my house to drop the plants off (and shoot the breeze, most likely about star trek, ironically) I have been offered a good-sized clump for 15$ hope this helps!!
(welcome aboard, BTW)

Mabudon, I'm in Toronto. Is there any hope to buy from him by mail, Expedited Parcel Post or ExpressPost? Now or later, when frost will not come. If seller has PayPal account I can pay immediately or send postal money order. If seller agrees, what else s/he has for sale, please? I received orchids from BC in the middle of November - heat pack was frozen solid, but orchids in newspapers are fine.

Ellen (my name's Carl if you'd rather use that BTW) He hs mostly Sarrs, and he's selling me some VFT cultivars as well- dunno if he even sells plants other than to local folks, but if you like, I could always set something up once the cold weather is gone- if I'm successful with the Helis, I could always just send some of mine- just remind me when the temps get warmer and we'll see what we can do!!
I'll post about whatever plants I get once I get them, and when I speak to the seller I can get whatever details as might be available from him- I KNOW he sells seeds, but you have expressed interest in actual plants... If I'm ever headed up to TO I will let you know, and if I have any plants you may want I can bring them up there for you at that time...

Thank you, Carl! I'm looking for heliamphora, cephalotus and small-sized (3in. or less in diam.) rosette-forming sundews, any not pure green. I will buy seeds too, if they are not expensive (BTW, it was very nice price for the plant), just was twice not successful with tropical sundews and not yet (two months only) with cephalotus. I also have mostly sarracenias (seedlings). ;D

a side thought for you ellen, membership to the ocps includes access to the seed bank. We have a decent selection of sundews that would fit your bill. Sib

Say him 'Hi' for me if you see him... I haven't write him since 2-3 years... The Amorphophallus konjac he sent me is thriving . I hope he is satisfied with the Sarracenia I've sent too (but i think he was a bit deceived tha I had cut the pitcher os some to put them in the box...)

CP is a small world, but when you talk about Canadian CPer, that's definatly a tiny world Hopefully this forums will help getting all in touch

Tom
You're absolutely right.
I know that in any point in my time growing CPs, i could count the number of Canadian CP ers on the fingers of two hands. Even more disappointing is that after a sustained cycle of interest, almost all of these people would eventually lose interest and move on to other things. This too, happens to me, where I lose interest...but get pumped up again when I see others around me sharing the excitement...like this OCPS forum!
