I really liked this article. I found out that the Man Robert, is the 'secret source' of the N. Edwardsiana seedlings that Jmatt, Capslock on TF have. All of the seedlings are reserved unfortunetly, so those lucky few are indeed lucky.
The 'beans' were spilled on the Pitcher-plants forum when this article was posted. I originally had some speculations, that were proven right when people finally admitted over there that he's the edwardsiana source.
Meanwhile us Canadians will have to wait for our share of edwardsiana, Andreas Wistuba told me they might become available early next year.
Now if you excuse me, i must go and dig a root cellar.

LOL yes he is..... oddly enough I can understand his obsession.. what I have trouble figuring out is the name of this magazine. One day soon there will be a TV show where Martha Stewart will show you how to peel a potato and clean your glock with the leftover peels. ;D I believe they just passed a law in Arizona to allow carrying concealed weapons into a bar.... whole new meaning to getting loaded.

That's an amazing story. I was seriously thinking of putting a small Canadian Tire greenhouse in a basement closet. Hmm, maybe I should think about it.

You're welcome guys. I did a double take with the naming of the magazine also. Hal I saw the movie adaptation of 'The Orchid Thief'. It starred Nicholas Cage and Meryl Streep and was called 'Adaptation'. Very quirky film and probably not for everyone's tastes. Haven't gotten around to reading the book though, and the books are usually better.

Only in the United States would they have a magazine called "Garden And Gun"

Haven't gotten around to reading the book though, and the books are usually better. Yeah that was a very weird adaptation of the book. The same screenwriter did "Being John Malkovich" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". And his latest, "Synechdoche, New York" is pretty good. The book doesn't veer off into alternate plot lines and is a good look at one man's obsession with plants. I also read "Flower Confidential" recently which is about the cut flower trade. It's got an interesting chapter on the guy who developed the Stargazer Lily. Completely obsessed. He could have made millions but had no idea what he'd come up with, or maybe no interest in profiting from it.

Only in the United States would they have a magazine called "Garden And Gun" Yes C1, my thoughts exactly. Hal that is quite something about the Stargazer Lily, which happens to be my favorite lily cultivar, if only for the intoxicating smell of that flower. Everytime I walk by them I have to stop and smell those flowers, usually without fail. The test of it was, when I read your post above, I walked into the livingroom where my wife was reading a book and asked her "What is the name of that lily that we really like the smell of?" "Stargazer" said she. Thanks for the notice about Flower Confidential, I'm going to have to look that one up and also The Orchid Thief while I'm at it. There is something compelling about obsessive plant people, just something about them, but I can't quite put my tendril on it.

......I can't quite put my tendril on it. Nobody who isn't totally obsessed can.

Now you've got me quite concerned Pet. I might need to be looking in the yellow pages for a good CP 12 step program, because that tendril is really tightening it's grip, and as I'm sure you well know, once this hobby gets a grip on you, resistance is futile.
